Counselling, your way

About Me

Being in therapy has been both informative and healing in my own life, and I’m privileged  providing that experience for others. l have lived internationally from a young age, and learning to adapt to different cultural standards has helped me realise that we’re all shaped not only by what happens to us, but also by the social frames that exist around us, such as culture, race, religion, class, sexuality and gender identity.

I’m an Accredited Member of the NCPS and I’m on their Specialist CYPT (Children and Young People’s Therapist) register. I joined them for accountability and for the safety of my clients, and I am committed to their ethical framework. I meet monthly with my experienced, accredited supervisors who adhere to the same guidelines, to ensure safe and ethical practice.  I am fully insured against public liability, and hold an updated enhanced DBS check.  I’m an experienced School Counsellor and I’m proudly affiliated with both the BAATN (Black and Asian Therapist Network), and with TACTT (Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia.

Counselling for Adults

There is no “right way” to be in therapy. I enjoy supporting my clients while they find their own tempo in the counselling space. I don’t direct conversations, but I will be open, curious and reflective about your statements and feelings, as this can be helpful in understanding your ways of thinking.

Counselling for Teens (16+)

In my work with teens I like to briefly meet with a parent or guardian and the young person together before we agree to have regular sessions, so that we can all understand everyone’s goals and expectations. When you book the Consultation Session, please clarify if the counselling is for yourself or for your young person.

My Approach

Counselling can be challenging. While therapy is often fulfilling and provides us with much needed answers, going through the process can be emotionally painful.

I honour my clients’ humanity, time, life experience, safety and confidentiality. I’m gentle and respectful, and aim for a therapeutic relationship which is both collaborative and productive. Throughout our sessions I will regularly check if I’m understanding what you mean while keeping us on track, and I will match your pace so that we work at a speed that’s comfortable for you. My goal is to understand what your life is like for you, and to use that lens to help you make sense and find meaning in what’s happening for you.
